What to Do If Your Printer Only Prints Blank Pages

Few problems are more annoying than hitting print and watching a blank sheet come out. This issue is surprisingly common, but in most cases it’s easy to fix.

Check Your Ink Cartridges

The most common cause is low or empty ink. Double-check the ink levels in your printer’s menu or app. If the cartridges are out, replace them with genuine ones for the best results.

Run a Cleaning Cycle

Dried or clogged nozzles can stop ink from flowing properly. Most printers have a built-in head cleaning function. Run this once or twice and try printing again.

Make Sure Cartridges Are Installed Correctly

If a cartridge isn’t seated properly, the printer may not be able to use it. Open the printer, remove the cartridges, and reinstall them securely.

Check the Print Settings

Sometimes the issue isn’t the cartridges but the settings. Make sure you’ve selected the right printer and paper type, and that you aren’t accidentally set to “Print to PDF” instead of paper.

Update Printer Software

Outdated drivers or firmware can cause communication issues between your computer and the printer. Check the manufacturer’s website or app for the latest updates.

Bottom line: A blank page doesn’t always mean your printer is broken. By checking cartridges, settings, and software, you can often solve the problem quickly and get back to printing.
